An unidentified man with burns covering most of his body was taken to San Juan Regional Medical Center on Sunday night.

San Juan County dispatch operators received a call around 7:15 p.m. reporting a man, who was burned and “possibly still on fire,” walking along County Road 5500, said Devin Neeley, San Juan County spokesman.

San Juan County Fire and Rescue and the San Juan County Sheriff’s Office responded and found the man “with significant burns to the majority of his body,” Neeley said.

The man lost consciousness after emergency crews arrived, and he was taken to San Juan Regional Medical Center. His condition was not immediately available.

The incident is under investigation by the San Juan County Joint Fire and Explosion Investigation Task Force, which includes San Juan County Fire and Rescue and the Sheriff’s Office.

The Tri-City Record on Monday requested a copy of the incident report from the sheriff through an Inspection of Public Records Act request.
