The 76th Annual Navajo Nation Fair was Sept. 4-8, in Window Rock, Arizona. The annual parade was held Saturday, Sept. 7, on Arizona Highway 264.
The route choice came after careful consideration for public safety and tradition while also working toward an unforgettable event for those who would participate, according to a Facebook video delivered by Navajo Nation President Buu Nygren.
“I have fond memories of running up and down this road as a kid soaking in the excitement of the parade,” he said “Now we’re ensuring everyone can enjoy – and safely enjoy the beloved tradition.”
In the Aug. 8 Navajo Nation news release, the route was changed because of increased crowd sizes that called for the consideration of public safety measures by the Navajo Nation offices to ensure the security and safety of participants and spectators.
