FARMINGTON – The Albuquerque Baseball Academy 2026 opened with an 11-1 first-round win over the Southwest Snipers in the Connie Mack World Series New Mexico state qualifier Wednesday at Worley Field.
Cameron Brown dominated on the mound, allowing three hits and one run across four innings while striking out seven.
The win advances the ABA 2026 squad into the second round of the qualifying tournament, which they won last year to earn a berth in the 2025 CMWS.
Jaydon Lard took the loss for the Snipers after giving up 11 runs on 13 hits with one strikeout.
Brown, a recent Goddard High graduate and Pima Community College commit, settled in immediately behind strong defensive play, retiring the side in the first inning. ABA’s offense matched the effort, stringing together three consecutive doubles, beginning with leadoff hitter Crosby Carmichael, to build a 6-0 lead after one inning. Carmichael finished 3-for-3 with three RBIs and two runs scored.
The Snipers struggled to answer as Carmichael delivered an RBI double to left field in the third, scoring Estevan Barela. Dean Ellison followed with an RBI single, bringing home Carmichael for an 8-0 advantage.
The Snipers broke through in the fourth when Stran English drove an RBI double to center field, cutting the deficit to 8-1. English finished with one hit and one RBI.
ABA answered in the bottom half, adding two runs on Chase Qualler’s two-run double before Kaiden Nerhood delivered a walk-off RBI single to end the contest 11-1.
ABA 2026 advances to the second round of the winners bracket and will face 4 Corners Red Thursday at 9 a.m. at Ricketts Park while the Snipers drop into the elimination bracket and will take on the NM Zingers at noon at Worley Field.
The Four Corners Blue took advantage of some sloppy defensive play on their way to a 5-0 win over Next Level in the opening game of the Connie Mack World Series New Mexico qualifier Wednesday at Ricketts Park.
Despite recording only one hit over the first three innings, the Four Corners Blue scored twice in the bottom of the first inning, then added three more runs in the bottom of the third to advance in the championship bracket of the tournament.
The Four Corners Blue controlled the basepaths for much of the contest, thanks in large part to a combined eight walks delivered by Next Level starting pitcher Thomas Velarde and reliever Trayson Groff.
Meantime, the Four Corners Blue had a strong defensive outing, turning a pair of double plays and getting a sharp effort on the mound from Treven Polanco. The Cleveland High graduate and recent commit to Chandler-Gilbert Community College struck out 10 batters and allowed only two hits while throwing 6 2-3 innings.
Four Corners Blue will be back in action Thursday at noon and will face Albuquerque Baseball Academy’s 2027 squad.
Kyle Murphy clubbed a solo home run in the bottom of the fifth inning then added an RBI in the bottom of the sixth to lead the ABA 2027 squad to a 7-5 win in an entertaining first round clash Wednesday at Ricketts Park.
Murphy, from Piedra Vista High, went 2-for-4 at the plate and led an offensive attack that had nine hits in the victory.
The ABA trailed 1-0 after one inning when FC Rage’s Tyler Ray was plated on an RBI double off the bat of Kale Watson.
The ABA grabbed the lead in the bottom of the third when Chase Rivera and Bradyn Mazuranich to cap a two-out rally.
FC Rage tied the score in the top of the fourth when Manuel Chavarria drove in Uriah Gonzalez, knotting the game at 2-2.
ABA added a pair of runs in he bottom of the fourth. Luke Watkins and Logan Sunstrom led off the frame with back-to-back base hits, then scored on a one-out double by Tasman Lupo to make it a 4-2 lead.
The Rage reclaimed the lead in the top of the fifth inning, scoring three times and taking a 5-4 advantage. Ray scored his second run of the game while Jordan Pope and Watson each crossed home plate on a triple by Chavarria, who finished the game with three runs batted in.
The ABA tied the game with Murphy’s solo shot to lead off the bottom of the fifth, then added a pair of runs in the sixth inning when Mazuranich tripled and scored Tyler Swarts scores before Murphy added to the lead, scoring Mazuranich with a double.
Despite giving up nine hits and five runs in five innings, Cooper Burak pitched well as the starter for ABA before Bradley Springer closed the door on the Rage, striking out four to earn the win in relief.
A relentless offensive attack carried HD 2026 Summer 18U to a decisive 13-5 victory over the Southwest Snipers Chastain 18U, fueled by big multi-run innings and a standout performance from Aguillar.
HD 2026 wasted no time setting the tone, jumping out to a quick 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning. After Kaiden Swanson scored the game’s opening run, Aguillar entered the lineup for Zane Unis and immediately delivered, beating out an RBI infield single to shortstop. Josiah Byers followed with an RBI double to center field, and Jayden Fuentes capped the frame with another RBI double to bring home Byers.
The bats stayed hot in the top of the second. With the bases loaded, Byers came through again, launching a fly ball to center field for a single that cleared the bases—scoring Eddie Blanshine, Isaac Brito, and Ryan Hutchison to extend the cushion to 6-0.
The Snipers got on the board in the bottom of the second when Lorenzo Martinez scored on a passed ball during a walk to Payce Olivier, but HD 2026 answered right back with a four-run third. Swanson drove in Blanshine and Hutchison with a single to left, Aguillar knocked in Swanson with a line-drive single to center, and Darnell Joe laced a hard grounder to left to score Aguillar, making it 10-1.
The Snipers showed signs of life in the bottom of the third, capitalizing on a few defensive miscues. Fabian Mendez scored on an error, and Jude Rosker delivered a clutch two-run double to left field to drive home Martinez and Trey Baillio. Rosker then aggressively manufactured another run, stealing third and subsequently stealing home to cut the deficit to 10-5.
However, HD 2026 slammed the door in the top of the fifth. Aguillar dropped a fly ball into left field for an RBI single to score Blanshine, and Joe put the finishing touches on the victory with a two-run single to left, plating both Aguillar and Swanson to secure the win.
