New Mexico marks Martin Luther King Jr. Day

Events and activities marking Martin Luther King Jr. Day continue across the state on Monday. According to the MLK Jr. State Commission, those events include a noon keynote speech at the Roundhouse by Gene Grant, director of the New Mexico Office of African American Affairs, and a brunch talk at 11 a.m. at the Las Cruces Convention Center, “The Fierce Urgency of Now,” by ACLU NM Director Leon Howard.

In Albuquerque, a crowd marched Jan. 17 from the University of New Mexico campus to the convention center downtown to pay tribute to civil rights icon Martin Luther King Jr.
