Each week, the Tri‑City Record highlights a “pet of the week” to keep adoption top of mind – and maybe help someone discover their new best friend. The featured pets rotate between the Aztec and Farmington shelters.

Meet Apollo, a well-behaved mixed breed who has been waiting at the Aztec Animal Shelter for his forever home since December.
Apollo is about 50 pounds and 2 years old. While he may not grow much bigger, like most of us (people included), he may fill out and get a little wider.
He is friendly and alert but mellow, getting along good with other dogs and with meeting new people. He shows no food aggression, does fairly well on leash and is clean in his kennel.
There seems to be some German shepherd in his background, but the rest of his mix is a mystery. What is not a mystery is that this very good boy is ready to be someone’s new best friend. Check him out at the Aztec Animal Shelter.
