KIRTLAND – The Aztec Varsity Spring Invitational saw a dominant showing from regional powerhouses, with Kirtland Central sweeping the top honors in the girls’ division and Farmington High claiming the top spot for the boys during action Monday at Riverview Golf Course.
The Kirtland Central girls golf team put on a clinic, securing the team title with a total score of 352. They were led by senior Dallas Dan, who claimed the individual title with an impressive round of 80.
The Broncos’ depth was on full display, with three players finishing in the top five. Makayla Manus tied for third with an 82, while sophomore Hayden Dan secured fifth place with an 84.
The boys’ team race was a much tighter affair, with Farmington High taking the win with a team score of 327. They managed to hold off a joint second-place charge from Aztec and Miyamura, who both finished just four strokes back at 331.
Individually, Piedra Vista’s Burke Allen turned in the performance of the day, carding a stellar 70 to take the top spot on the leaderboard. Farmington’s Lincoln Blue Eyes followed in second with a solid 74.
Local and area golf teams will be on the Pinon Hills course Monday at 10 a.m. for the Farmington Varsity Invite.
