Everyone knows Snoopy. But not everyone knows his five siblings: Spike, Belle, Olaf, Andy and Marbles, each with their own distinct personality. Starting this month, fans will get to know Snoopy and his siblings in a whole new way.

On Tuesday, national nonprofit Best Friends Animal Society and Peanuts announced a new partnership celebrating the unique personalities of pets in shelters and encouraging people to adopt their next character. Inspired by Snoopy and his siblings, the collaboration reminds people that every dog and cat is an individual waiting to be discovered by the right family.

The months-long partnership will include events and activations, limited-edition merchandise and much more, all inspired by Snoopy’s siblings and designed to help more pets find loving homes.

“We believe every pet deserves to be loved for exactly who they are,” said Julie Castle, CEO, Best Friends Animal Society. “Partnering with Peanuts gives Best Friends Animal Society an incredible opportunity to introduce the joys of adoption to new audiences through one of the world’s most beloved and recognizable brands. Together, we hope to inspire more people to visit their local shelter and experience the happiness and joy that only a pet can bring.”

Every year, millions of dogs and cats enter shelters across the United States, waiting for someone to recognize how special they are. According to data from Best Friends Animal Society, on any given day, an average of 500,000 dogs and cats are waiting in shelters nationwide. Through the power of one of the world’s most beloved brands, Best Friends Animal Society and Peanuts hope to inspire more people to see every pet as individuals and to be loved for exactly who they are.

Throughout August, pet lovers can learn more about the partnership, watch the campaign public service announcement, explore adoptable pets, and sign up to get a first look at the limited-edition Peanuts and Best Friends Animal Society merchandise by visiting www.bestfriends.org.

“As the home of the world’s most famous beagle and his band of siblings, Peanuts could not be more delighted to partner with Best Friends Animal Society in this wonderful project,” says Melissa Menta, Senior Vice President, Global Brand and Communications for Peanuts Worldwide. “Snoopy, Spike, Olaf, Marbles, Andy and Belle prove that dogs come in all shapes and sizes with unique and loveable personalities.”

This week’s good boy is Hoffman, an approximately year and a half old neutered male currently weighing in at 70 pounds. Staying at the Aztec Animal Shelter, he is friendly with humans and other dogs, although he can be a little shy at first. Based on overall looks, AI is guessing this guy to be at least partially Black Mouth Cur, a medium to large sized American breed that originated in the southern part of the country and is a popular hunting companion, used to hunt a large variety of game. This unassuming dog is already a hero: The shelter said he saved a puppy’s life by supplying a needed blood transfusion. Now Hoffman is waiting for his hero, someone to supply this nice dog with love and companionship. Come and visit him at the Aztec Animal Shelter, open Monday through Saturday from noon to 4 p.m.
