RIO RANCHO – An unspecified incident at Cleveland High School has left the outfields of two competition surfaces unplayable, forcing New Mexico Activities Association state tournament officials to overhaul Thursday’s schedule.
Damage to Fields 2 and 3 required the NMAA to consolidate all remaining matchups onto Fields 1 and 4 to ensure the damaged grass can be restored for Friday’s play.
The shift directly impacts several local and area teams. In Class 4A, Aztec will now face Silver at 2:30 p.m. on Field 1, while Kirtland Central takes on Belen at 2:30 p.m. on Field 4. In Class 5A, Piedra Vista is scheduled for a 4:30 p.m. first pitch against Las Cruces on Field 1.
