The Farmington Electric Utility System has received three national awards from the American Public Power Association recognizing performance in safety, reliability and operations.
The association represents more than 2,000 not-for-profit electric utilities nationwide.
FEUS earned the Platinum-level Reliable Public Power Provider designation, which recognizes utilities that demonstrate proficiency in reliability, safety, workforce development and system improvement.
FEUS was also named a Diamond-level recipient in the 2025 APPA Safety Awards of Excellence, reflecting workplace safety performance and efforts to reduce incidents.
FEUS also placed in the top quartile for reliability. Data from the APPA’s PowerTRX Reliability service showed the utility performed above national averages tracked by the U.S. Energy Information Administration.
Director Hank Adair said the recognition belongs to both utility employees and the Farmington community, whose support makes it possible to maintain the system.
“These honors aren’t just plaques on a wall, they are a direct reflection of the incredible heart and dedication our team brings to work every single day,” Adair said. “Whether it’s a lineworker out in a storm or an engineer and technician optimizing our system, every member of our staff is committed to keeping our community safe and the lights on.”
The Excellence in Reliability award compares FEUS with a range of utilities, including investor-owned providers, and places the utility in the top 25% for outage prevention and restoration.
