Eve’s Fund for Native American Health Initiatives awarded scholarships to 20 Navajo students at Navajo Preparatory High School for the 2025-26 academic year.

Eight students are first-time recipients, and 12 are continuing from previous years.

Scholarships are based on financial need, academic potential and leadership skills. Applicants submit a short essay on “What I want to do with my education” or “How a good education will help me achieve my goals.”

Each scholarship covers required school fees, about $1,000 per student.

Since 2011, Eve’s Fund has awarded $152,500 to 93 students, most receiving support throughout their four years at Navajo Prep.

“We are deeply thankful to Eve’s Fund for their ongoing support of Navajo Prep and our students. Eve’s Fund’s generosity supports not only individual scholars, but the whole mission of Navajo Prep, Yideeską́ą́góó Naat’áanii, Leaders Now and Into the Future,” said Head of School Shawna Allison Becenti.

Becenti said this marks the 15th year of Navajo Prep’s partnership with Eve’s Fund.

“Their continued support reflects our shared commitment to empowering our Indigenous students and removing barriers to opportunity,” she said.

Eve’s Fund was established in memory of Eve Erin Crowell, who died in February 2005.

Her parents, the late Dr. Robert Crowell and Barbara Crowell Roy, created the program to honor her legacy and help high-achieving Navajo students, primarily from rural areas, overcome financial barriers to education.

“As we conclude our 20th year, we are pleased to be awarding our highest number of scholarships in the program’s history,” said Barbara Crowell Roy, president of Eve’s Fund. “Thanks to our generous donors, with special acknowledgment to the Andrew Delaney Foundation, we are building an endowment to ensure the Eve’s Fund Scholarship for Navajo Prep students is funded for many years to come.”
