Artists will take over downtown Farmington on Friday evening for the Farmington Art Walk, the first of the year.
The event will celebrate the City of Farmington’s 125th anniversary as well as downtown Farmington’s new designation as an Arts and Cultural district by New Mexico Main Street.
Between 90-120 artists, makers and vendors are expected to display their work, at both outdoor and indoor venues. It will stretch downtown from Wall Ave. to Auburn Ave. with about 24 galleries and businesses participating. Orchard Park will serve as a hub. Deion Hayz will perform some nice, soft music.
Artists and musicians who haven’t registered are also welcome to show up. Musicians, especially students, are encouraged to show up and play for tips while artists can still set up at Orchard Park or Connect Space. A kids market will also provide kids an outlet for their work and help them learn to be artisans.
The event is put on by the Northwest New Mexico Arts Council. Creative New Mexico sponsored the event, allowing all booth fees to be waved.
The event is scheduled from 5 – 8 p.m. and is free and open to the public.
