The 2026 NMCO Four Corners Open chess tournament is returning to Farmington on July 11-12, giving local players an opportunity to test their skills and possibly win some prizes.
The tournament, to be held at the 30th Street Education Center, 3401 E. 30th St., in rooms 206 and 208, will feature an Open section for the top players and another bracket for players rated under 1200.
The under-1200 tournament will take place over four rounds on July 11, starting at 11 a.m. and concluding with the final round at 3:30 p.m.
The open tournament, meanwhile, will have two rounds on July 11 and conclude with two more on July 12.
No spectators are allowed in playing areas when the games have begun, but a designated spectator area will be available.
The cost to participate is $30-$40, depending on section, and cash prizes are up for grabs.
