FARMINGTON – Three local high school athletes from Kirtland Central and Navajo Prep have signed letters of intent to continue their academic and athletic careers at colleges across the country.

Kirtland Central senior Dallas Dan will continue her golf career at Snead State Community College in Boaz, Alabama. Dan competed on two state runner-up teams and was a four‑time member of the Broncos’ district championship team. She also won multiple high school tournaments and amateur events through the Sun Country Junior Golf Association.

Dan plans to major in business administration while competing on Snead State’s women’s golf team.

Snead State capped its season last May with a top‑10 finish at the NJCAA Division II Women’s Golf National Championship at Cedar Pointe Golf Course in Boone, Iowa. The Lady Parsons, coached by Shane Marshall, finished 10th with a four‑round total of +245. Team members included Marlee Hedgepeth of Alexandria, Alabama; Ashley Nelson of Lake City, Florida; Kyleigh Gibson of Smiths Station, Alabama; and Rachel Gattis of Jacksonville.

Acosta signs with Dakota Wesleyan University

Kirtland Central’s Angel Acosta, a multisport star who enjoyed a great deal of success playing soccer, has signed his letter intent to attend Dakota Wesleyan University in Mitchell, South Dakota.

A five-year starter on the Broncos boys soccer team, Acosta ends his prep career with 76 goals, including 31 goals this past season. Acosta earned three First Team All-District awards, a District Player of the Year award and was named Tri-City Record’s top boys soccer player during his junior campaign.

In addition to soccer, Acosta has also been a part of the Kirtland Central football, basketball, and track teams.

Acosta joins a Tigers men’s soccer team coming off a 7-11-1 season last fall. Coached by Nicolas Reinhard, Dakota Wesleyan University is a member school of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and competes in the Great Plains Athletic Conference.

Navajo Prep’s Manygoats signs with Cedar Crest

Navajo Prep senior Gabriele Manygoats has signed to play volleyball at Cedar Crest Community College in Allentown, Pennsylvania.

Manygoats had a standout senior season for the Eagles, finishing with 112 kills and 56 aces. The team went 8‑14 overall and placed second in District 1‑3A with an 8‑2 record, closing the regular season on a three‑match win streak.

Cedar Crest is led by third‑year head coach Grace Sullivan. The Falcons finished last season 6‑23 (4‑6 United East Conference), paced by Ellise Everett’s 333 kills and Tianlly Davila’s 67 aces.
