Here’s a wrapup of all the first day of pool play games.
Defending champion Dulins Dodgers National rode Carson Sharp’s hot bat and a trio of pitchers to a 9-1 win over Brand of Athletes Friday at Worley Field. The Dodgers held BOA to one hit and one run.
Sharp, a Louisiana Tech commit, went a perfect 3-for-3 with one RBI and two runs to lead the offense, while starter Corbin Walter struck out three and allowed one run across two innings.
BOA’s Anderson Forrest recorded the team’s lone hit. Cooper Wilson took the loss, allowing two runs on three hits while striking out two in two innings.
BOA struck first when Jaxon McArthur lifted a sacrifice fly that scored Luke Hall for a 1-0 lead as the Dodgers struggled defensively early. Wilson struck out two and induced a flyout to end a quick first inning.
The Dodgers answered in the second as Sharp lined a single that scored Jacob Pruett, then Creed Rainer ripped a single to center that brought home Ashten Ballew. Jace Elrod grounded out to score Sharp and give the Dodgers a 3-1 lead.

The Albuquerque Baseball Academy offense scored runs in bunches during the third and fifth innings before surviving a late scare on their way to a 7-6 victory over the Midland Redbirds in Friday pool play action at Ricketts Park.
Kade Aragon, Cody Clugston and Mason Courtney, each representing Piedra Vista High School, scored during a one-out rally in the second inning thanks to RBI base hits by Courtney and later by Crosby Carmichael.
The early ABA advantage also prompted the early exit of Redbirds starting pitcher Isaac Gutierrez, who allowed three hits and a pair of walks during 1 1/3 innings of work before being replaced by Jacoby Dutchover.
The ABA’s lead was erased in the bottom of the third inning when the Redbirds got to starting pitcher Kyle Murphy and reliever Gunnar Guardiola, who combined to allow four consecutive walks, a wild pitch, a passed ball and a balk to tie the game.
ABA head coach Tim Campos was tossed from the game in the bottom of the third inning by umpire Brad Hungerford for arguing a balk call, but later watched the game from the bleachers at Justis Park across the street.
Campos had his trek rewarded in the top of the fifth inning when Wyatt Tinker hit a 2-run home run over the left field wall to power ABA back to the lead. ABA scored two more runs in the frame thanks to Clugston’s two-out single which scored Aiden Mobley and Tyler Swartz.
Leading 7-3 into the bottom of the sixth, ABA reliever Matt Cook survived a Redbirds scare. Drake Hawpe’s three-run blast to right field drew the Redbirds within a run before back-to-back strikeouts to Max Woerner and Jax Robinson to secure the win.
A total of five pitchers combined to allow only three hits in a 3-1 win for Dallas’ D-Bat United, winners of their opening round pool game by a score of 3-1 over the NW 509 Stars.
Oliver Minyard and Brock Burkett provided much of the offensive spark for D-Bat, each of them scoring a run in the bottom of the second inning. They added a run in the bottom of the third inning when Talon Pate scored on a throwing error from right field.
D-Bat pitchers Finley Hambrick, JT Mulkey, Greyson Darden and Jack Jacob had combined for 16 consecutive outs before Marshall Tomlinson reached on an infield single in the top of the sixth inning.
Nursing a three-run lead into the top of the seventh inning, Ian Mulligan finished the game on the mound, giving up a run when Brayten Ayers scored from third on a wild pitch before striking out Jacob Wilson to close out the contest.
TEST Black 17U used a steady stream of run-scoring plays through the middle innings to build a cushion and hold off Dulins Dodgers American for a 6-3 victory in Connie Mack World Series pool play Friday at the Farmington Sports Complex.
The Dodgers jumped out to an early lead in the top of the first inning when Lucas Smith lined an RBI double to center, scoring Asher Strait. However, TEST answered immediately in the bottom half of the inning. After loading the bases, Jansyel Otwell drew a walk off Dulin’s starter Jack Snakenburg to force in a run, and Troy Gonzalez followed with an RBI groundout to give TEST a 2-1 lead.
TEST added single runs over the next three frames to stretch its advantage. Jake Shoemaker brought home a run on a groundout in the second, Drew Harthcock ripped an RBI double to right in the third, and a passed ball paired with a Gonzalez RBI double in the fourth pushed the lead to 6-1.
The Dodgers mounted a late rally in the top of the seventh. Brady Sommers hit an RBI triple to right to score Liam Quinlan, and Reed Blakley immediately followed with an RBI single to bring home Sommers, but TEST shut the door to secure the win.
