A Farmington man with a history of child sex assault has been charged with three counts of criminal sexual penetration of a minor.
Justin Nachreiner, 31, was arrested Friday and booked into the San Juan County Detention Center. The San Juan County District Attorney’s Office has filed a pretrial detention motion to keep him in jail.
Nachreiner has convictions of criminal sexual penetration and an attempt to commit aggravated battery, both fourth-degree felonies. He also has three probation violation reports filed and received an unsatisfactory discharge in probation in August 2019 according to the motion.
“The Defendant has a prior conviction for sexual abuse against a child. He is now charged with sexual abuse against a different child,” the motion stated.
The Farmington Police Department opened an investigation into Nachreiner on June 26 when officers received a report that an 8-year-old boy told his grandmother and uncle that he was being sexually abused at a home in the 400 block of San Paula in Farmington, according to the affidavit for arrest warrant.
The boy alleged the abuse started when he was 4 years old and had most recently happened in May, the affidavit said.
A forensic interview was given to the child, who disclosed that he was forced to watch pornography with Nachreiner, who would wear a “Pokemon Pikachu beanie” with “floppy” ears during the abuse, the affidavit said.
It also was alleged that Nachreiner recorded and took pictures of the child while he was forced to perform sexual acts with the man, according to the affidavit.
Farmington police detectives interviewed Nachreiner, who denied the abuse and asked for a polygraph.
The affidavit stated that Nachreiner did not show up for the polygraph, which was scheduled for July 1.
Police also reportedly found the Pikachu beanie in Nachreiner’s bedroom, the affidavit said.
In the court records from his first sexual assault case, Nachreiner reportedly disclosed to the court that he was sexually abused as a child.
A detention and preliminary hearing for Nachreiner was scheduled for 8 a.m. July 16 in District Judge Stephen Wayne’s courtroom in Aztec.
