To help celebrate 250 years of the United States, numerous events are scheduled for Independence Day this week in San Juan County and Farmington.
One of the highlights, the Freedom Days Electric Light Parade, is scheduled for 9 p.m. Saturday, July 4, down Farmington’s Main Street downtown.
Flag displays, floats, classic cars and more will travel through the streets of Farmington, lit up by thousands of twinkling lights.
The parade aims to be fun for all ages and is free to view. The floats will also be judged.
Farmington’s fireworks display, meanwhile, will take place on Friday night at Sullivan Hill. The 20-minute show, at 9:25 p.m., will choreographed to a patriotic soundtrack.
There’s also a Firecracker Fun Festival on Thursday at Bisti Bay at Brookside Park, featuring games, popsicles, a tie-dye station and summer activities., and the family-friendly Party in the Park Saturday at Brookside Park, featuring vendors, live entertainment and a skateboard competition.
