BLOOMFIELD – Delanna Russell, a multi-sport star recently graduated at Bloomfield High School, has signed on to extend her academic and athletic career at Colorado Northwestern Community College in Rangely.

Russell, who recently finished her prep basketball career as the team’s leading scorer with 284 points last season, also was a star for the Bobcats volleyball team where she recorded 60 kills and 33 aces last season.

Russell was a four-year starter on the Bloomfield girls basketball team, averaging more than seven points a game in her prep career. She finished her senior campaign as the fifth-leading rebounder in Class 4A with 238 boards, with 178 of those on the defensive end.

The CNCC women’s basketball team, part of the Scenic West Athletic Conference, won only one game out of 28 last season and finished 3-27 the season before that. Led by interim head coach Alexis Schulz, the Spartans will be looking for their first winning season in more than a decade.
