Bloomfield residents have a new shopping option for groceries, household essentials and everyday items with the opening of a Dollar General store at 500 Industrial Blvd..
The new store is expected to employ approximately six to 10 people, depending on operational needs. According to the company, employees may be eligible for benefits including health insurance options, retirement plans, tuition reimbursement, paid parental leave and adoption assistance.
Company officials said the store’s opening also expands access to grant opportunities through the Dollar General Literacy Foundation. Schools, libraries and nonprofit organizations located within a 15-mile radius of the store are eligible to apply for literacy and education grants. Since its founding in 1993, the foundation has awarded more than $292 million in grants and supported more than 28 million people through literacy and educational initiatives, according to the company.
“At Dollar General, we believe the addition of our new Bloomfield store provides positive economic growth for the community through the creation of new jobs and career growth opportunities; increased accessibility to affordable products; the generation of tax revenue and access to Dollar General Literacy Foundation grants,” said Matthew Simonsen, senior vice president of business intelligence and development for Dollar General.
The company will celebrate the store’s opening with a grand opening event at 8 a.m. Saturday, June 13. The first 50 adult customers will receive a $10 gift card, while the first 100 customers will receive a Dollar General tote bag. Store hours are available through the Dollar General mobile app.
