The city of Farmington and the Farmington Regional Animal Shelter will host Bark in the Park on Saturday, April 25, at Animas Park.
The free annual event is designed to bring pet owners together while raising awareness and support for the shelter’s lifesaving operations.
The day begins at 10 a.m. with the Doggie Dash. The race is a 2-mile loop through the trails of Animas Park and is open to participants of all ages and fitness levels.
The main Bark in the Park festivities will run from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. after the race. The schedule includes a vendor fair featuring local businesses with pet-friendly products and services, pet-themed games and activities, and puppy yoga classes.
The shelter will also host an adoptable pet parade and offer special adoption fees during the event to help find homes for dogs.
“Bark in the Park is about more than just fun; it’s a way for our community to connect and see the incredible animals we have waiting for homes,” community program manager Amber Francisco said.
Registration opens at 8:30 a.m. on-site. Participants who register in advance online will receive an event T-shirt, though shirts are not guaranteed for day-of registrants.
All well-behaved, leashed dogs are welcome to attend with their owners.
