Three Farmington residents face felony charges after a woman allegedly paid to have her boyfriend assaulted at Brookside Park, an attack that escalated into a shooting, police said.
Marcus Atcitty was shot in the head during an altercation investigators say was arranged by his girlfriend, Keedra Gould, 21, of Farmington.
Gould was arrested April 4 and charged with criminal solicitation to commit aggravated battery and tampering with evidence, both fourth-degree felonies.
Her friend, Shania Burke, 21, of Farmington, was arrested April 5 and charged with conspiracy to commit aggravated battery and tampering with evidence, both fourth-degree felonies.
A warrant also has been issued for Burke’s boyfriend, Shaun Henderson, 21, of Farmington. He reportedly pulled the trigger, injuring but not killing Atcitty.
Henderson is wanted on charges of third-degree felony aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, conspiracy to commit aggravated battery and felony tampering with evidence, both fourth-degree felonies.
All the charges are connected to an incident that began the afternoon of March 22 and ended with the shooting of Atcitty around 11:30 p.m. in Brookside Park.
Gould reportedly admitted to Farmington police that she “had been in an argument” with Atcitty. That altercation led to a “physical confrontation” with Atcitty’s cousin, according to the affidavit for arrest warrant.
Around 4:30 p.m. March 22, Gould sent a text message to Burke in which she allegedly stated she wanted Atcitty “suffering,” the affidavit said.
Burke reportedly received a $75 payment through Apple Pay at 6:33 p.m., then allegedly drove Henderson and two other men to the park, where she videotaped the assault, the affidavit said.
Burke also told police she was unaware firearms would be involved but said Henderson and another man she did not know were in possession of a handgun, according to the affidavit.
Gould reportedly took Atcitty to the park and told him they were going to drink alcohol. He was then attacked, police said.
Atcitty told police Henderson was “pistol whipping him,” and that he heard “two or three gunshots” before “everything went black,” according to the affidavit.
Gould drove Atcitty to San Juan Regional Medical Center, where he was treated for fractures to his nasal bone and orbital floor and for lacerations to his scalp and left ear, according to the affidavit.
Preliminary examinations for Gould and Burke are scheduled for 8:30 a.m. April 15 in Farmington Magistrate Court.
